By chance, I ran into another landscape photographer out there whose work I have admired in local galleries in my area. We spent a couple of hours shooting together and sharing our experiences "chasing light". It was a good time and reminded me that IMAGES ARE GIFTS to be shared. The weather turned cold with wind rain and snow today. Probably will cut the color season shooting short, but there were some great shots out there the last couple of days. Here are a few to enjoy while I am prepping the real posts:

Wow, it's been a busy time. Between running around shooting new photos during what, I must say, is a particularly spectacular Rocky Mountain color season, I have had a couple of successful sale/exhibits. I want to thank all the photography connoisseurs who visited my tables at the Mesa Community Center Color Sunday celebration on September 25, and those who dropped by my display at Mesa Lakes Resort this past Color Weekend. You kept me hopping with your questions and offered much encouragement with your comments and compliments. Thanks to all who stopped by and a special thanks to all of you who now own a piece of my work!

The Gallery is always available by appointment (assuming I'm not out somewhere chasing light:) and special orders can be arranged through the website. Just email me at jim@jimhamlinphoto.com or call or text me at 970-314-5888 to place an order or to schedule a no-obligation visit to the Gallery in Mesa.

Several People asked me about family or Senior portrait sessions. I would love to work with you! Please see the website for samples and details.

Happy Fall,

The season has finally come for the wildflowers to become a riot of color on the Grand Mesa and elsewhere in the Rockies. I'm working on some new shots to be posted soon. With the nice summer weather, I've been able to combine two of my favorite activities: photography and riding my motorcycle, making for some very pleasant and productive outings (note the bike in the background).

Spring on the Western Slope Continues to be a Challenge

Between the 60mph wind gusts and the 25mph steady wind blowing for DAYS and the dust and the smoke from the wildfires in Eastern AZ in the air, this has been an early June to forget on the Mesa.

Here's a shot taken at moonset before sunrise on 6/5. The color has not been adjusted. It is as shot except for cropping. The wind didn't allow a crisp shot even on tripod, but I loved the color from the particulate matter in the air.

It was a very long, it seems, winter here on Grand Mesa. I got the itch to get out - bad! I'm Back from trips to New Mexico and to the Moab area, shooting in Taos, Chaco Canyon, Bisti Badlands, Arches, Deadhorse Point, Canyonlands, on Utah BLM land, and in Goblin Valley. Weather was not cooperative; challenging in some way on every part of every trip. But I think I got some good stuff anyway. I've posted some behind-the-scenes shots on the blog and new photos in the galleries.

Dog Sled Racing on Grand Mesa

Jim Hamlin Photography was part of the sponsorship group for the
